Accused in 'Upscale Cracc' Murder Face Charges for Jewelry Heist, Claims Bragg

The murder of Javier Osorio-Mejia, a well-known sneaker reseller known as “Upscale Cracc,” was disclosed on Thursday by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Two individuals are charged with the crime.

Authorities said that 32-year-old Marc Haygood of Rochester and 35-year-old Jayquan Straker of Brooklyn left him for dead after stealing his Rolex and jewels.

“As alleged, Marc Haygood and Jayquan Straker plotted a brutal murder while they pursued Mr. Osorio-Mejia into Manhattan, where they murdered him and stole his jewelry,” Bragg stated. This horrible event tragically ended the life of Mr. Osorio-Mejia, a prominent shoe vendor, entrepreneur, and parent. In this time of tragedy, my heart goes out to Mr. Osorio-Mejia’s loved ones.

In June, Osorio-Mejia was reportedly shot in SoHo. He is a shoe reseller and has more than 50,000 Instagram followers.

In a hired gray vehicle, Straker and Haygood allegedly trailed Osorio-Mejia from a Queens bar. It is believed by investigators that a pursuit occurred once. The suspects allegedly approached Osorio-Mejia’s vehicle and opened fire three times, according to the authorities.

Shootings wounded Osorio-Mejia in both the head and the leg. According to the court filings, Straker and Haygood allegedly threw the victim to the ground and tore his jewels from him.

Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, Osorio-Mejia was ultimately fatally wounded and transported to a nearby hospital.

Here are the charges that Jayquan Straker is facing:

  • Serious murder
  • Depraved murder
  • Stealing in the first degree—three counts
  • Class 2 robbery

There are two second-degree charges of criminal possession of a weapon.

  • Depraved murder
  • Stealing in the first degree—three counts
  • the second degree of robbery

There are two second-degree charges of criminal possession of a weapon.
