Prosecutors released charges against a Brick Township woman on July 4 for allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct with a student, following her resignation from her role as a teacher at Wall Township High School earlier this week.

Julie Rizzitello, 36, of Brick, who resigned earlier this week, is facing many charges, including three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, two instances of second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree witness time.

The alleged unlawful behavior by Rizzitello began earlier this year, according to prosecutors. The investigation was conducted by the Monmouth and Ocean County prosecutor’s offices in conjunction with the Brick and Wall police. Several sexual activities involving the victim were allegedly performed by Rizzitello in at least three different jurisdictions: Belmar, Brick, and Wall.

On Wednesday, Rizzitello was taken into custody without a hitch and taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where she will stay until her detention hearing in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The Wall Township school system website removed a profile piece on Rizzitello on Thursday, but an archived copy of the page still showed that she had been an English teacher for the district for ten years. Along with her role as adviser for the Class of 2026, she was involved in advising other clubs.
