Heavy Frost and Freeze Warnings Issued for Parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas

A significant low-pressure system is currently affecting areas of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, resulting in heavy showers and thunderstorms. As this system moves, unseasonably cold air will be moving in during the overnight hours.

Tonight, our main focus will be on certain areas of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and potentially the southeastern part of Kansas and the southwestern part of Missouri. Currently, the National Weather Service has announced freeze warnings for the northwest corner of Arkansas, along with frost advisories in the surrounding areas of Oklahoma.

Late-season crops and plants can suffer significant harm or even be completely ruined by both frost and freeze conditions. Similar conditions may occur overnight tomorrow in the same regions, including south-central Missouri. It is important to ensure the safety of livestock and the health of plants and crops in the coming days.

In other news, a strong low-pressure system is set to develop in the Southwest, moving into Texas and then tracking northeast into the Plains. There is an elevated chance for intense weather conditions overnight Sunday into Monday affecting regions in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. Conditions are favorable for the occurrence of significant hail, destructive winds, and the possibility of tornadoes.
