A judge decided on Tuesday to sentence a crazy lady to 12 years in prison for indiscriminately splashing sulphuric acid in a stranger’s face inside a Brooklyn subway station.
Following her conviction last month on first- and second-degree assault charges related to the 2022 attack, Rodlin Gravesande, 34, was given a 12-year jail sentence, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Juanita Jimenez, 22, was the victim; she had second and third-degree burns to her face, leaving her severely scarred.

According to a statement from District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, “Today’s sentence holds this defendant accountable for a frightening and random attack on an innocent woman.”
“People who endanger the safety of Brooklyn residents while riding the subway will face consequences. Residents deserve to feel safe doing so.” As the young victim of this incident continues to recover from her wounds, my thoughts are with her.

On December 2, 2022, the victim was traveling south on the 2 train to work at Kings County Hospital when she had the traumatic encounter with Jimenez, who was 21 years old at the time.
Prosecutors stated that Gravesande, a former resident of Brownsville, followed Jimenez off of the train vehicle when she got off at the Prospects Lefferts Gardens station, where she was shouting and threatening to push other riders.
As the victim attempted to get away, the two first spoke to each other before Gravesande struck her in the head. According to the district attorney’s office, the defendant then opened a container of sulphuric acid and threw it in Jimenez’s face as she attempted to go toward the exit.
The incident necessitated several procedures for the victim.
A month after Gravesande fled to Georgia, she was apprehended by the authorities. Since the random attack, Jimenez has had numerous skin transplants, as well as reconstructive surgery for his lips and nose.
Jimenez said the incident shocked, as she had told The Post earlier this year.
Since I’m such a kind person, I’ve always believed that something like this couldn’t happen to me. But, as she stated in February, “it really could just be anybody.”
“It happened even though we didn’t argue, I didn’t know her, and I didn’t have anything with her.”
Juanita Jiménez recently celebrated earning honors in her departmental bachelor’s degree in anthropology, biology, and chemistry from Lehman College.
“The Lord has taught me that comfortability is my strongest enemy throughout this journey,” the woman wrote on Instagram. What’s to stop me from pursuing my vision? All I can do is restrict myself.
