16-Year-Old Boy Shot and Killed at Brooklyn Housing Complex, Police Investigating

A 16-year-old kid was fatally shot in a NYCHA complex in Brooklyn, according to police on Sunday.

Officers reported the shooting of the adolescent on Saturday at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Auburn Place, close to N. Portland Ave., outside the Walt Whitman Houses complex in Fort Greene.

“It was a lot of shots,” remarked a neighbor whom we’ll call Small. Neither one nor two shots were fired. I counted more than five gunshots.

The patient was not saved despite the rapid response of the medical staff at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. No one knew his identity right away.

According to the neighbor, “I didn’t hear any commotion before the shooting.” Ambulance personnel attempted to assist him. Near the large parking lot, he lay on the ground across the street. His lifeless form lay on the floor, face up.

After the shooting, officers noticed a gray Hyundai driving away quickly and were searching for the vehicle. At the scene, they found four bullet fragments.

“The area is relatively relaxed back but you’ll hear about a couple of gunshots that occurred,” claimed a neighbor who declined to be named. “I’m sad to hear about the young child. That’s terrible. What a tragic situation.

The teen was one of two murdered 16-year-olds in the Big Apple last week. In Harlem, at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, police reported that Clarence Jones was shot in the torso near W. 124th St. and Lenox Ave. Harlem Hospital received the kid in a hurry, but unfortunately, he was not saved.

Shooting occurred approximately nine blocks from the boy’s home, according to the police.

Nothing happened that we can explain. As far as target is concerned, we are unaware. Our nephew’s murder has been solved. He was senselessly murdered.

According to Desiree Murray, a 59-year-old resident of the tight-knit apartment complex where Clarence and his father lived, she described herself as a paternal aunt and stated, “He was only 16.”
