On Monday morning, a low beam hit an 11-year-old while the train came into a Brooklyn station, killing the child, according to sources in the law enforcement community. The incident occurred during a subway surfing accident.
According to sources, the youngster was atop a G train that pulled into Smith-Ninth Street Station at approximately 10:15 a.m.
On the tracks, under the trestle that extended over the station entrance, were observed first responders, with a stretcher close by.

As the Bedford-Nostrand and Church Avenue stations were cordoned off by police as they investigated the accident, the MTA reported that Citizen App Service was significantly interrupted on the subway line.
Tragically, this is just the most recent incident involving adolescent subway riders who frequently record their risky antics for films that go viral on social media. There have been at least six fatalities this year due to the careless acts.

Subway surfing in the Rockaways was the tragic cause of death for a 15-year-old in July.
Subway surfing was also the scene of an injury-and death-stricken incident involving two teenagers in June.
At Monday morning’s Smith-Ninth St. Station in Brooklyn, responders from the New York Police Department were prepared with a stretcher.
A 14-year-old from Queens was injured earlier in June when he hit his head on a beam as he entered a station.
Subway surfers lost their lives in 2023, with hundreds of reports of similar incidents.
New York City and state officials have launched a public awareness campaign to warn youths about the trend, but the number of cases seems to be climbing compared to previous year, based on data from the New York Police Department.
