What is the process for distributing Cal Fresh checks?
These benefits are distributed using an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card, which functions similarly to a debit card and may be used at participating grocery stores and farmer’s markets.
The system knows what day benefits are loaded into an EBT card from the last digit of the case number. The first ten days of the month are when distribution happens. When a person’s case number ends in 1, they will receive their payments on the first of every month.
The distribution schedule is simplified as follows:
- Cases ending in ‘1’ indicate benefits loaded on the first, whereas case numbers ending in ‘2’ indicate benefits loaded on the second.
- All benefits are loaded on the third case number, which ends in ‘3’.
- The process continues until the tenth of the month.
- By familiarizing themselves with this process, Cal Fresh customers may maximize their benefits and make more informed decisions when grocery shopping.
