Fuel Truck Blaze Shuts Down I-45 North, Lanes Now Reopened; More than 8000 Gallons of Fuel Lost in Fire

All lanes of I-45 North heading southbound have been reopened following a fire incident involving a fuel-carrying 18-wheeler.

Houston Fire Department officials were dispatched to a call at 5500 North Freeway near Tidwell around 9:50 p.m. Authorities reported that a truck carrying approximately 8,800 gallons of unleaded fuel had caught fire.

According to officials, two bystanders were injured and have been transported to the hospital. One person sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, while the condition of the other individual remains unknown.

Hazmat crews were dispatched to the scene and promptly applied a foam blanket, as reported by HFD. The Texas Department of Transportation and a private hazmat company hired by the truck owner are also present at the scene, providing assistance.

Multiple lanes were resurfaced during the cleanup process.
