$5,000 in Designer Handbags Stolen by Burglar Before Arrest, Deputies Report

As part of an ongoing investigation in the San Marcos region, investigators announced Saturday that a Temecula woman was detained on various felony charges, including residential burglary.

Friday, detectives from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station executed a search warrant on the 43000 block of Kensington Place in Temecula. This was done as part of the ongoing investigation.

Katie Rhew, a resident and a suspect in the crimes, was apprehended during a traffic stop two blocks away from her residence by deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities in San Marcos reported that during the subsequent search of the property, detectives found numerous stolen things, including multiple designer bags valued at over $5,000.

According to officers, they found two items that had been taken from an unincorporated region near De Luz when searching the Chevrolet Suburban that Rhew was driving.

The incidents in question are still being investigated, but the parcels have been returned to their rightful owners.

The allegations of house burglary, possession of illegal substances, and identity theft led to Rhew’s booking into the Vista Jail. Along with Rhew, cops detained 38-year-old Gina O’Neill, who was subsequently released on a promise to appear in court for an unrelated charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
