A man from San Antonio has been given a sentence of 192 months in federal court for his involvement in the armed robbery of a pawn shop with a Federal Firearms License. He was also found guilty of conspiring to traffic firearms that were stolen during the robbery.
As per court documents, Antonio Hinojosa Jr., 21, allegedly conspired with others through a social media chat to carry out a robbery at a pawn shop in San Antonio. On May 18, 2023, a group of individuals committed a robbery at a pawn shop, taking precautions by wearing gloves, masks, and dark clothing.
During the incident, the store employees were threatened with firearms. A group managed to steal 14 firearms and over $8,600 worth of jewelry before making their escape in a getaway truck. Following the robbery, Hinojosa took to social media to showcase the stolen firearms, aiming to promote and offer them for sale to his acquaintances.
Hinojosa was taken into custody on June 26, 2023. On March 7, he admitted his guilt to charges of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and conspiracy to traffic firearms.
Joshua Michael Govea, the co-defendant, admitted to his involvement in the robbery by holding the store workers at gunpoint. He pleaded guilty to charges of robbery conspiracy and brandishing. Govea received a sentence of 117 months last week.
Two more co-defendants, Cesar Alan Garcia and Sebastian Louis Xavier Suarez, are awaiting trial and are currently in custody. In accordance with standard legal procedure, Garcia and Suarez are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
