The driver of a futuristic new pickup truck, a Tesla Cybertruck, was killed in a crash and fire. The federal safety authorities are now collecting information about the incident.
Tesla was informed on Wednesday that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is collecting information from the company. Neither detectives nor an official investigation into the crash have been dispatched by the agency.
There was no mention of whether or not the driver was utilizing a partially automated driving system or whether an investigation into the fire’s cause was underway.

According to reports, this is the first fatality associated with the angular stainless steel-clad truck, which was released for sale on November 30.
The accident, which happened early Monday in the Baytown region of Chambers County, is being investigated by state troopers, according to KHOU-TV.
According to the station, the vehicle was traveling along a parkway when it abruptly deviated from the road, collided with a concrete culvert, and subsequently caught fire.
Two recalls were issued for the Cybertruck in June to address issues with front windshield wipers failing and loose trim parts. In the four years after its release, it has been withdrawn four times.
