News has just emerged that Chevron will be moving from the Bay Area of California to Space City. It is expected that all of the top brass will have gone by the end of this year, therefore Houston, Texas will immediately welcome a very wealthy new inhabitant.
In addition to the announcement that the fifteenth biggest American firm—which was among the top ten on the Fortune 500 list only twelve months ago—would be relocating all of its operations and personnel to Texas within five years, the state will also be welcoming this corporation before the year ends.
Since not everyone in the workforce is likely to be interested in relocating to Texas, this bodes well for the Bayou City’s corporate job market.
Furthermore, the presence of another large American corporation in Houston and Texas would further enhance the allure of Texas as a destination for top-tier talent.

Chevron, a massive Fortune 500 company, is relocating its headquarters from the Bay Area to Texas from California.
According to this KRON article, there are presently over 2,000 staff working at the soon-to-be-abandoned California headquarters. I also think the workers who are planning to move to Texas will move fast so they can enjoy our lower housing costs, lower cost of living, and absence of a state income tax.
Although the precise location of the new headquarters is unknown, the Houston area is already home to over 7,000 Chevron employees. We might soon witness a new campus or skyscraper, or they might attempt to cram into the new offices.
