by Dallas, Texas — AT&T customers impacted by recent data breaches now have a limited window to file for compensation as part of a major settlement, with the deadline quickly approaching.
Deadline Approaching for AT&T Data Breach Settlement
Consumers affected by AT&T’s data breaches can now submit claims for cash payments connected to the company’s $177 million settlement. The deadline to file is Dec. 18, giving eligible customers just weeks to act.
AT&T said it agreed to settle in order to avoid lengthy litigation, noting:
“We have agreed to this settlement to avoid the expense and uncertainty of protracted litigation.” The company added it remains committed to protecting customer data and maintaining trust.
What Impacted Customers Can Do
Individuals who believe they were affected by either of the AT&T breaches can take the following steps:
File a claim by Dec. 18: Class members must submit their settlement forms before the deadline. They may also choose to opt out or object to the settlement, but those actions must be completed before Nov. 17.
How to File Your Claim
The claim process is handled through the Kroll Settlement Administration website. Once on the site, consumers can click the “Submit Claim” button located on the right side of the page and follow the required steps. Documentation may be needed depending on the type of losses claimed.
How Much Money Can Consumers Receive?
The settlement establishes two payment classes totaling $177 million:
- $149 million for the first group
- $28 million for the second

Based on current estimates:
- Consumers impacted by the first breach may be eligible for up to $5,000.
- Consumers impacted by the second breach may receive up to $2,500.
- Some individuals may qualify as “overlap settlement class members,” meaning they could receive payouts from both funds.
Final payment amounts will depend on the number of claims, documentation of losses, attorney fees, and other administrative costs. The settlement still awaits final court approval, currently set for Jan. 15, 2026.
What Happened in the AT&T Data Breaches
The first incident involved the illegal downloading of approximately 109 million customer accounts, including call logs copied from AT&T’s Snowflake cloud environment. These logs covered about six months of 2022 call and text activity from nearly all AT&T wireless customers.
The second breach surfaced in March 2024, when a data set appeared on the dark web. AT&T’s initial analysis showed it impacted 7.6 million current customers and 65.4 million former customers. The exposed information seemed to come from records dating back to 2019 or earlier.
