A 26-year-old woman has gone viral after revealing that her friend’s boyfriend had an “accident” on her couch — and then refused to take full responsibility for the cleanup bill. The bizarre situation, which unfolded after a Halloween night out, left her couch, bedding, and even her boyfriend’s bed completely soaked.
According to the woman’s Reddit post, she and her boyfriend had gone out with friends, including her “friend Jake” and Jake’s boyfriend “Dylan.” After the night out, everyone returned to her house around 1 a.m.
“At some point Dylan fell asleep on the couch. While we were talking, another friend suddenly told us Dylan was having an accident. But it was too late and it was soaked into my couch cushion,” she wrote.
Another friend helped move Dylan to the bathroom, but things quickly got worse.
“Somehow, he had crawled into my bed — still in his accident-soaked clothes — and laid down next to my sleeping boyfriend,” she said.
The result? More mess — on the bedding, couch, and blankets. The couple ended up sleeping on the floor while Dylan and Jake stayed the night and left the next morning without apologizing or cleaning up.
By the time the woman woke up, the smell was “horrible.” After trying to reach them with no success, she decided to buy an upholstery cleaner for $150 to fix the damage.
“I texted Jake, ‘So I adore you and Dylan but our couch smells and we have to clean it. It’s gonna be $150. I’m going to request Dylan pay for it,’” she wrote.
But Dylan reportedly refused, telling her to “request it from Jake on Venmo.” When Jake finally responded, his reaction shocked her.
“Hey idk if it’s fair for Dylan to pay $150. If he gives you half would that be cool? We could have used our own carpet cleaner 😂,” Jake texted.
The woman replied that the cost wasn’t optional, noting that $150 was already cheaper than professional cleaning or replacement. Jake eventually Venmoed the full amount but did not hide his irritation.

“Whatever dude. If that’s how y’all feel, take your money,” he wrote.
The following day, he messaged again saying he’d return the borrowed clothes so they wouldn’t have to “pay” for those too — a text she described as “petty and disrespectful.”
Despite their 10-year friendship, she said the situation has left her stunned by Jake’s reaction.
Most Reddit users sided with her, saying she was right to ask for reimbursement.
“You might need a new couch honestly. Your friends are gross,” one commenter said.
“My buddy once peed and threw up on my brand new IKEA couch. He offered to pay $900 and bought me a new one. Dylan is getting off really easily,” another wrote.
Many agreed that while accidents happen, adults should take accountability — especially when they ruin someone else’s property.
