Metrolink’s Holiday Train 2025: Dates, Stops, and Festive Surprises Revealed

Southern California, CA- Metrolink is bringing back one of Southern California’s most heartwarming traditions — the Holiday Express Train — for the 2025 winter season. The much-loved event combines festive fun, family entertainment, and community giving, offering passengers a unique way to celebrate the holidays while traveling through some of the region’s most scenic routes.

A Festive Experience on Rails

Starting in December 2025, Metrolink’s special ticketed holiday train rides will offer passengers a 75-minute round-trip journey filled with festive decorations, live entertainment, and appearances from beloved holiday characters. Families can expect to meet Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and a variety of costumed helpers who will bring seasonal cheer to every car.

Each designated holiday train features decorated interiors, complete with twinkling lights and holiday music. Before departure, host stations will hold pre-boarding receptions with themed activities, refreshments, and live music, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.

Connecting Communities Through Holiday Spirit

Metrolink officials emphasize that the Holiday Express Train is about more than just fun — it’s about fostering connection. The agency will once again partner with local nonprofits to collect toys at each stop for families in need, ensuring the spirit of giving is part of every ride.

“There’s something truly magical about Metrolink’s Holiday Express trains that capture what this time of year is all about,” said Riverside County Supervisor and Metrolink board member Karen Spiegel. “This heartwarming experience enriches our local communities and creates memories that last long after the season ends.”

Where and When You Can Hop On

The 2025 Holiday Express Train will run from five different stations over three weekends in December:

  • Dec. 6–7: Union Station and San Bernardino
  • Dec. 13–14: Irvine
  • Dec. 20: Riverside
  • Dec. 21: Simi Valley

Each route features festive programming and a welcoming atmosphere at every station.

Ticket Prices and Details

Tickets are now available for purchase, and seats are assigned at the time of booking:

  • Standard seats: $30
  • Premium seats with tabletop: $35
  • Interior-facing single seats: $25
  • Children 2 and under: Ride free on an adult’s lap

Metrolink recommends that passengers arrive early to allow time for parking, check-in, and participation in pre-boarding festivities. Guests are encouraged to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, but strollers should be left in vehicles to maximize onboard space.

A Holiday Journey to Remember

“When aboard Metrolink’s Holiday Express, the journey itself becomes the destination, and it’s a celebration,” said board member Tâm Nguyễn. “It’s a wonderful example of how Metrolink connects our region, not just through rail service, but through shared experiences that bring people together.”

With its blend of festive décor, live entertainment, and charitable spirit, the Metrolink Holiday Express Train has become a beloved annual event — one that celebrates community, generosity, and the joy of the season.
