Bronx Sees Morning Surge of Violence as Teen Stabbed Near Yankee Stadium and Two Adults Shot in Fordham Heights

NEW YORK, NY – A string of violent incidents shook the Bronx early Thursday, leaving a 14-year-old boy stabbed near Yankee Stadium and a man and woman shot in a separate attack further north, authorities said.

Teen Stabbed Near Yankee Stadium

The violent day began around 9 a.m. when a fight involving four teenagers broke out near East 163rd Street and Grand Concourse in the Concourse Village area — just blocks from Yankee Stadium.

According to police, the 14-year-old victim was stabbed in the right side of his stomach during the altercation. The boy was quickly rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

“It’s unclear what led to the fight, but it appears the group of boys knew each other,” a law enforcement source said.

The NYPD released surveillance images later in the day showing three young suspects believed to be involved. The trio appeared baby-faced and were seen wearing backpacks, suggesting they might have been on their way to or from school when the violence erupted.

Separate Shooting in Fordham Heights

Just hours earlier, around midnight, another violent episode unfolded in Fordham Heights, where a man and a woman were shot outside a building on Briggs Avenue near East Kingsbridge Road.

According to police, a 27-year-old woman was shot twice in the lower back, and a 42-year-old man was struck in the right hand. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive.

Investigators recovered 13 shell casings at the scene, indicating that multiple rounds were fired during the shooting. Police believe the gunmen may have targeted the victims, though officials have not ruled out the possibility that they were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Police Search for Suspects

Authorities said they are searching for three men in connection with the Fordham Heights shooting — including two suspected gunmen.

One shooter was last seen wearing a light gray hoodie and black sweatpants, while the other wore a black hoodie and gray sweatpants, police sources said. The third man was reportedly dressed in all black.

“Detectives are actively reviewing video and canvassing the area for witnesses,” an NYPD spokesperson said Thursday afternoon. “We’re urging anyone with information to come forward.”

Bronx Violence Raises Community Concerns

The dual attacks — occurring just hours apart — underscore ongoing concerns about youth-involved violence and gun crime in the Bronx. Community leaders have repeatedly called for increased patrols and after-school programs to keep teens away from street altercations.

The stabbing near Yankee Stadium, in particular, drew attention for its proximity to schools and the popular South Bronx transit hub, an area that sees thousands of commuters and students every morning.

Local residents expressed shock at the incidents, with one neighbor telling reporters,

“It’s scary to think a 14-year-old can get stabbed on his way to school. The violence just doesn’t stop.”

Ongoing Investigation

Both incidents remain under investigation by the NYPD’s Bronx detectives. Police have not announced any arrests as of Thursday evening but are following several promising leads.

Anyone with information about either crime is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, call 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
