After suddenly closing down owing to a “considerable amount of shoplifting,” a supermarket store in Tennessee now makes an unexpected shutdown.
A letter was left on the door to notify Save-A-Lot customers of the store’s closing.
The Save-A-Lot on the corner of South Perkins Road and Knight Arnold Road in Memphis, Tennessee had to close its doors because of the high rate of shoplifting, according to WREG, a local CBS station.
Residents Temeka Jones and her husband were shocked.
What exactly is theft?
She related that on July 16, she had dropped by the grocery store and noticed a sign informing customers of the closure.
This establishment is temporarily closed as a result of theft, and we apologize for any difficulty this may cause.

According to what the Save-A-Lot owner told WREG, he attempted to save the Memphis store but was unsuccessful owing to excessive thievery and poor sales.
In addition, he disclosed that the store’s loss was more than that of his other eight locations put together.
To reduce food waste, the remaining supplies will be shared with other Save-A-Lots.
