The victim was allegedly shot after he went after two individuals after being robbed while sleeping, as stated in court documents.
A public safety advisory was issued by Ohio State University shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, following the heist that had taken place an hour and a half earlier at the Gateway shopping area on East 11th Avenue.
At the age of eighteen, Skyler Steward was taken into custody by the Columbus police and subsequently arrested and charged. Allegedly, a detective noted in the charge papers that surveillance footage showed Steward and another man approaching a man seated at a table with his head bowed.
The two fled while the victim pursued after stealing a backpack from the sleeping man. This victim was wounded in the left foot, according to the investigator, after the unnamed suspect turned around and brandished a gun.
On North Pearl Street, they were last observed sprinting southward.
Soon after, between the intersection of North High Street and East 7th Street, police detained Steward. Reportedly, Steward confessed to the heist but denied shooting the suspect.

Franklin County Municipal Court is slated to have his arraignment on Monday. He is now facing felony charges of first-degree aggravated robbery. An active warrant from the U.S. Marshals was also mentioned in the court records.
