Regarding the shooting that took place in Southeast Washington in April, a major development has been reached.
As officers from the Sixth District responded to a complaint at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, they discovered a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds at the 2300 block of Marion Barry Avenue.
A medical professional attended to the man’s non-life-threatening injuries as soon as they were discovered.
On Wednesday, as per an arrest warrant from the DC Superior Court, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force detained Derrick Dion Gladden, 53, a resident of Southeast D.C. Several counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) are against him.
Police Chief Robert Contee thanked the public for their cooperation with the inquiry. Locals provided us with crucial information that allowed us to quickly identify and apprehend the perpetrator. “Our efforts to maintain safety and bring justice to those affected by violent crimes require the full support of the community,” Contee said.
