A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of Northern Virginia until 10 a.m. as freezing rain continues. The forecast warns of icy conditions, with a thin layer of ice forming on roads, sidewalks, and power lines. Officials are urging residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.

Power companies are working to restore electricity as quickly as possible, but icy conditions are making repairs challenging. Crews are assessing damage and working in hazardous conditions to bring back power to affected areas.

Residents are advised to prepare for extended outages by keeping emergency supplies ready, including flashlights, blankets, and non-perishable food. Those experiencing power loss should report outages to their electricity provider and avoid downed power lines.
