BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (MJP) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died after a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 99 on August 4.
He was identified as 50-year-old Aaron Anderson Jackson Jr. of Compton.
The California Highway Patrol said on August 4, 2024, at around 6:47 a.m., officers were called to southbound Highway 99, south of California Avenue, for a report of a solo-vehicle crash.
A preliminary investigation found that a 50-year-old Los Angeles woman was driving a 2019 Nissan southbound on Highway 99, south of California Avenue, and at an undetermined speed.
CHP said for unknown reasons, the driver caused the Nissan to veer to the right off the roadway. The Nissan crashed with a metal streetlight pole and a tree on the embankment west of the roadway.
CHP said the driver was taken to Kern Medical.
The passenger, identified as Jackson Jr., was taken to the hospital and later was pronounced dead.
The use of alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash, according to CHP.
